Annual Independence Day Cookout
A warm summer breeze rustling the leaves of the trees, the sun beating down on you as an American flag waves majestically in the wind and the smell of grilled hamburgers and hot dogs filling the air. What could be better? Sharing this moment with family and friends at the First Assembly of God annual Independence Day Cookout.
Once again our cookout is just around the corner and is always a highlight for our church family. The all important trio of food, family and fun are always present when we get together to celebrate the birthday of our great nation.
Each year this event has evolved and changes slightly. In the past we have had everything from special songs presented by church family members to live music from wonderful local talent. Another tradition for the cookout is our ever popular slip-n-slide that we bring out for this special occasion. This simple piece of plastic helps provide us with hours of fun and excitement as well as plenty of memories that will keep us laughing and smiling for years to come.
“There is nothing like getting together with family for the holidays,” said Pastor Randy, “and the 4th of July is no exception.” He went on to encourage everyone to come and be a part of this great celebration and to come ready to have some fun.
This year’s celebration will be held on Sunday, July 2 and events will begin at 6pm. Please be on the lookout for sign-up sheets in the church lobby for side dishes such as baked beans, coleslaw, and potato salad. Most of all, come and enjoy this time of fellowship and fun with the most wonderful church family on the planet.
