4th of July

05.03.18

While the Fourth of July is still a couple of months away, the preparations for this amazing day of fun, food, and fellowship have already begun.  A few years ago we here at First Assembly of God gathered together to have a great time celebrating the United States of America’s birthday.  This is one of the most anticipated events of the summer for our church.

This year’s Fourth of July Celebration will be held on Sunday, July 1 and will begin at 6pm that evening.  This has turned out to be a day filled with lots of fun with great water attractions for kids and adults alike.  The night will begin with some incredible food prepared on the grill by some of the men of First Assembly.  The ladies will also get in on the cooking by preparing homemade sides such as baked beans and potato salad.  In recent years we have even had people prepare homemade ice cream for everyone to enjoy with their meal.  Once the eating has come to an end, the fun will continue as we will be bringing out our giant slip and slide for the church to enjoy.  “What better way to beat the heat,” says Pastor Randy, “than to turn on the water hose and enjoy being a kid again by sliding down a tarp.”  With the popularity of this attraction it is nothing to see the line for the slip and slide stretch almost to HWY 31 the entire time it is open.  For those in our church family with little ones, we will also have bounce houses and water slides specifically for the children of First Assembly.

Last but certainly not least, we will close the night with a magnificent fireworks display that will be presented just as the sun sets and darkness begins to set in.  Pastor Aaron and Fish’s Fireworks have been doing the fireworks show for us here at First Assembly ever since we have been doing our Fourth of July Celebration.  “It really is an amazing way to celebrate our freedom and the birth of our nation,” said Pastor Aaron.

Everyone at First Assembly is encouraged to come out and bring a lawn chair and enjoy the festivities with their church family.  Be on the lookout in the lobby for a sign up sheet for how you can help with this wonderful event.
